Use Knowledge Cards for Definitions, Equations and Units
Pupils lose easy marks on definitions, equations and units. Kredits knowledge cards are short question-and-answer cards written from the CCEA specifications: GCSE, Double Award, Single Award and A-level (GCE) Physics and Chemistry. Every learning outcome is covered, and each card is checked before pupils see it.
How to do it
-
What a card is
Each card has a front (a prompt, such as “Define specific heat capacity” or “The unit of power”) and a back (the answer). It is labelled as a definition, equation, unit or fact, and tied to a learning outcome.
-
Only your course’s cards
Cards follow the course you choose. A Double Award or Single Award class only gets cards written for its own specification, and Foundation classes don’t get Higher-only cards.
-
Ask them as a starter
In Retrieval, set Ask to Knowledge cards, or Both to mix them with questions. They show on the board as Knowledge card, and can be sent to devices like any question.
-
Pupils’ flashcards
Pupils with a Kredits Pass find Knowledge cards on their class’s page in My Kredits. Flashcards: they mark themselves Not yet, Nearly or Got it (counts half towards Konfidence).
-
Quiz me
Quiz me asks the cards with answers to choose from, and counts in full towards Konfidence.
-
Konfidence for cards
In Kredits Konfidence, knowledge cards have their own row, with the weakest cards inside.
Best practices
- Use a few cards at the start of a practical or calculation lesson to warm up the equations needed.
- Ask pupils to use Flashcards first, then Quiz me once they feel ready.
- Spotted a card that could be better? Email hello@kredits.co.uk: the cards are checked by teacher reviewers.
- Knowledge cards are physics and chemistry only for now.
